The writing duo of Crusie and Mayer is an action-packed romance all by itself. This character driven story of Lucy and. J.T. has enough action, adventure, sex and snark to satisfy even the Hollywood heavies. The serious romance comes into play in the last half of the book and worth the wait. The cast of supporting actors are diverse and believable and only in L.A. or on a movie set would it be possible to have this many self-centered egos bumping into each other. I love the setting as well, being a South Carolina girl and very familiar with the area I could visualize every scene.

If you aren't a Crusie fan, you should be. I've read most of her books and can't say enough good things about her writing; snarky intelligent, insightful, funny, sexy. Did I mention snarky? Now writing stories adding the male perspective only makes the books more exciting to read. I believe I'll have to break down and read some of Mayer's books, too.

The only other thing I'd ask for is the next book should be about LeFavre, 'cuz, you know, who doesn't love a pilot with a southern drawl?

Another wonderful sexy romantic adventure that left me breathless at the end! I stayed up all night to finish this book! Wow! Great characters, great story with so many twist and turns you get dizzy!

I loved this story. It is different from Jennifer Crusie's usual books but isn't something different great every now and then. Bob Mayer,s input is a necessary component that adds an interesting and entertaining new point of view to the book. I have read all the books these two have jointly authored and frequently reread them when I need a lighthearted entertaining mood lifter. No matter how many times I read these books I still laugh out loud in certain sections.
My daughter-in-love gave me the second book by these two authors and I loved the feisty, intelligent heroine, the good looking (of course) good guy and the assorted nutty characters and family members. So I went online to see if they'd written anything else and I found their first collaboration, "Don't Look Down." Another totally delightful book. The humor, the lead characters, the assorted nutty characters, really terrific. This one dealt with a dog food producer brought to a movie site to do four days of action scenes. Scenes that originally weren't in the movie.

As the hours slip by you'll be mesmerized by the good, the bad and the questionable as they slog their way through the movie with many other highlights thrown in along with a red herring or two.

I plan to get any other books these two write together, because they are a dynamite team. My daughter-in-love (an ex-daughter-in-law) agrees with me. Not only do we get to enjoy the books, but we get to talk about them, too.
I automatically buy anything Jennifer Crusie and devour it...but I had to make myself read this one just because I paid for it on my . Usually her characters make her books, but I couldn't make myself like any of these characters, except for the 5-year-old, and I was actually pretty concerned about her. The male character is a jerk who sleeps with the first female who offers, and then does the "love of his life" character a couple days later. I'm still not really sure what happened in the book, and I have yet to figure out the motives of the bad guys. I wish I would have chosen differently...this is just not a good book and I wish I would have just cut my losses instead of wasting my time as well.

I was a little biased going in, although I am not sure it was in one direction or the other. I had high expectations, but also expected to be disappointed (as things are always too good to be true) turns out I was right, about the high expectations. There are VERY few books I am not overly critical of, and even fewer I have challenges putting down. This is one of the books I will put on my shelf with a huge smile. It was all I wanted, sexy, smart, fun and real. JT Wilder, and the ian Lucy Armstrong are a perfect fit, Pepper the niece and her apples adds an awesome curiosity and giggle to the mix of action, mystery and romance.
At moments I was laughing aloud and when it was over I was left satisfied and believing in the happy ending. Deep and powerful enough to keep me addicted but not so bogged down I felt like I was in the swamp with Moot (you have to read the book).

This is not a Jennifer Crusie book. This is not a romance. This is a Bob Mayer book. This is a mostly male audience action/thriller book. Bob Mayer's name should have been listed first.

If you're looking to re-experience Agnes and the Hitman don't bother with this one. This was their first collaboration and they were still working on the formula. I haven't read their other collaborations yet but I intend to. When they get it right, they get it really, really right.
Nothing about this plot makes sense, literally nothing. The director on a tight four-day shoot who somehow feels obliged to dedicate important working time to her five-year old niece. The niece who speaks like no child has ever done, and despite knowing there's a very dangerous alligator in the swamp, goes in there in the dark looking for a mole. A mole. The hero and heroine who decide to start a life together despite having barely communicated about anything in their lives. The setup involving a billionaire collecting jade dildos to help his erection problems. Nothing. It's also a truly uneasy mashup of the two writers' styles; the male writer seems obsessed with male characters talking about women's breasts, which is not exactly a good fit for a romance novel. Pretty much the definition of a total mess. If anyone can think of one plot point that does make sense I would LOVE to know - please post it below!
